My name is Jason S. Jones. I grew up in Wise County where I lived for 13 years. At that time, my father went
to work for General Dynamics and moved us to White Settlement, where I’m currently residing. Shortly after I
graduated high school in 1991, I started working as an armed security guard, which sparked my interest in
law enforcement. In 1993 I graduated from Dallas Baptist University Police Academy.
I started working as a reserve officer for the town of Lakeside in Tarrant County that December. The Chief in
Lakeside at that time was John Haenes. I attribute my successful career in law enforcement to him. He
served as the chief of Lakeside for sixteen years, until he retired. Chief Haenes taught me how to be a great
cop and how to provide outstanding service for citizens.
Soon, I became a full time paid officer and stayed with the Lakeside Police Department for five years. As a
young officer looking for more excitement, I decided that I wanted to work for a larger department. I went to
work for the big city of Fort Worth! I was hired on with the Fort Worth Marshal Office in 1999. During my first
year with the Marshal Office, I worked in building security and the warrant division on the south side of Fort
Worth. The remaining four years I was assigned to the Lake Patrol Division for Lake Worth.
Although I had a lot of fun working in the Lake Patrol, things started to change in my personal life. My wife,
Erin, and I adopted our nine-year-old niece. Erin started to settle me down and turn me into a family man.
That’s precisely what attracted me to Double Oak. It is a close knit community and very family-oriented. How
refreshing to see the citizens wave to me as I pass by while patrolling! That is something I didn't receive on a
regular basis in Fort Worth.
My family has continued to grow. My niece, Brittany, is now eighteen. I have a six-year-old daughter,
Savannah, a four-year-old son, Jacob, Dakota, is two-years old. and our youngest, Jerry is three-months-old. Oh, and I
shouldn't forget my beautiful wife, Erin, who keeps all of us under control.
The mayor and the town council truly care about the direction the police department is going, so I am
determined, with their support, to make the policy and operational changes that are necessary to provide a
superior law enforcement service for this community. I really enjoy working for the Double Oak Police
Department and hope to be as great as my mentor, Mr. Haenes. It is my goal to serve in this position for
several years to come.
Thank You!
Chief of Police
