CRIME ALERT

02-02-2010

CAR BURGLARIES

In response to citizen questions the Town of Double Oak has not been experiencing Car Burglaries.  We have contacted the Denton County Sheriff's Office and they have confirmed that neighborhoods in Lantana have experienced ten confirmed vehicle burglaries since December.  Items taken include purses, wallets, checkbooks, identifying information etc.

Please take the time to bring purses, laptops, wallets and any other items of value into your residence.  Locking your car doors, activating burglar alarms and parking vehicles in garages are also good deterrents to theft.  Car burglars are opportunistic thieves and will strike during the day and at night.

If you observe suspicious persons in your neighborhood please don't hesitate to dial 911.  Denton County Sheriff's Communications provides dispatch services for the Town of Double Oak and surrounding communities and will be glad to send an officer to investigate your concerns.

If you have information regarding the Lantana car burglaries please call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-388 TIPS (8477).

Respectfully,

Derrick Watson, Chief of Police

Double Oak Police Department
